A bride's mother, father and best man were stranded in traffic on the M11 for hours - missing their daughter's wedding!
The Huntingdon based family were heading to their daughter's wedding on the morning of the big day when they ran into a massive jam caused by a vehicle fire.
In addition to Mum and Dad, the Best Man for the day was driving! They'd left at 9.30am for a 1pm wedding in Hornchurch Registry Office.
The huge jam was caused by a fire on a recovery vehicle which was heading to another broken down vehicle, closing the road for 24 hours and leaving thousands of motorists stranded!
Luckily the rings were left with the groom and a substitute Best Man was found for the day.
The stranded party eventually arrived in Hornchurch just after 5pm - missing the entire ceremony and photos with the couple. The parents of the bride were devestated and now don't appear in any of the wedding photos or the video of the day.
A spokesman for the fire service said that the delay was due to the stricken vehicle carrying acetylene cylinders which need to be carefully cooled if involved in fire to avoid a potentially lethal explosion. In addition to the parents, 500 other motorists missed flights from Stanstead airport because of the closure of junctions 6 & 7 on the motorway.
