IDENTICAL TWINS Ronnie and Eddie Irwin have had enough of working apart, and have given up their jobs to start up their own video production business.

Their company, Irwin Video Productions, based in Southport, Merseyside offer a range services from wedding DVDs to corporate films.

When growing up, the twins did everything together. They gained the same qualifications at school and college, attaining the same grades, and even went on to complete the same media degree at Bradford University. As teenagers they developed a keen interest in video and filmmaking and made many productions together. “I guess we are closer than your average brothers,” Ronnie laughs.

However, at aged 21 the new graduates went their separate ways. Ronnie joined a video production house in Southport, becoming a professional cameraman and editor. Meanwhile, Eddie carved out a career in IT.

But Eddie’s passion for video remained strong. He joined Altrincham Video Society, where he has directed several short dramas and documentaries. “Being involved in video production at an amateur level has allowed me much greater creative freedom than Ronnie is used to as a professional”, says Eddie. “Ronnie and I have developed a different range of skills, and combining our strengths is producing some fantastic results”.

They film all their weddings with two cameras so as not to miss any of the action. “We also attach a radio microphone to the groom in order to get great quality sound during the wedding vows,” explains Eddie. “Ronnie is very critical when it comes to sound and picture quality. We aim to bring a level of professionalism to our wedding videos that, quite frankly appears to be lacking in this industry.”

The Southport based duo believe their special relationship will make a big difference to the success of their business. Ronnie says, “Eddie and I communicate very well – we know what each other is thinking.
